Hey everyone, hope you are all well.
If you found this Blog through my old one Beauty for girls on a budget then you will have already seen this post. However I have decided to write it on here anyway, as this is a new Blog, and, therefore, the people reading this, will probably not seen it before.
I love studying and want to share all my tips for studying. I will admit that I do get distracted and I am human so I, therefore, do have days where I am not in the mood for studying. It is ok to have those days, you will not fail if you take a day off. Yet sometimes you have those days when you have a lot of work to do, so this is where my tips come in.
Tip number 1:
Find a place where you don't get distracted but you feel comfortable. For me I work better on the floor when I'm not using my computer but I always work at my desk when typing. Some of you might find it better sitting on your bed, but I don't recommend that because it can be hard to concentrate on your bed. Another thing about working on your bed is that it might either make you want to sleep, or stop you from sleeping when you're not working. I try and have an area for work and an area for pleasure because for me that is the best way to get me to work effectively and it also helps to differentiate between work and pleasure, stopping me from getting distracted.
You might even find that you work better out of the house and at the library. I love working in the library and do feel like I get more work done there.
It is entirely up to you where you study but just think of a place where you won't get distracted. Never forget that you do need to be comfortable otherwise you won't be able to concentrate.
Tip number 2:
Pray before starting any homework. This one is obviously optional depending on whether or not you are Religious. I obviously am, hence why this is one of my biggest tips. I feel that praying for motivation and patience before starting any work helps me a lot because I feel God is with me, helping me to keep working, and without Him I couldn't do it all. I'm not going to force any of you to start praying, but I really do suggest it. Even if you aren't religious, give it ago and trust me you will feel brilliant and really work hard.
Tip number 3:
Music. I don't recommend listening to music that is loud, 'dancy' or distracting in anyway. However I do recommend music that motivates you to work. Of course if listening to your favourite pop song helps you to work, go for it. I find that too distracting, as I end up singing along instead of working, so instead I listen to soft music like this or an album like this, they just keep me motivated and not distracted. If you are listening to music on Youtube I do recommend making a playlist so you are not searching for the song you want to listen to every time you need a new song. It saves time and means you can get more work done.
Tip number 4:
This is something I get distracted by the most, social networking sites. I recommend using this when you are working. It is a site called Self-Control, which blocks any site you want for 90 minutes at a time. You cannot switch it off once the timer starts, even if you switch your computer off, meaning that, even when you get bored you still can't go onto those sites which stop you from working. This is a new discovery for me and, I will be honest, I haven't used it yet, but I have heard wonderful things about it and am excited to use it. I am one of those people that get distracted by sites such as twitter but if I can block them I know that I will get more work done, which is always a bonus.
Tip number 5:
Organisation is key to success. I'm not going to go into much detail here, as I plan on doing a separate post on organising your school work. But I will say that, for me, organising is of utmost importance. I love to organise.
I really hope these tips work for you. Let me know your tips so I can get better at studying. Also if you do try out any of these tips, let me know if they work for you.
Talk to you all soon
