Short haul

Happy Monday all.

I went shopping with my mum yesterday and thought I would share with you all what I got.
I didn't get much because I have become really concious of spending money, especially as I am going on holiday a few times this year, so I only bought the necessary things.

Anyway here they are:

First from Superdrug I got: Superdrug own brand dry shampoo (apparently it smells like chocolate brownie) So...? Sinful body spray and a new face cloth

Next was Diechman and I just got a new pair of slippers which were on sale. I think they were £3.50

Then from Primark I bought: a pair of skinny jeans, high waisted skinny jeans and a pair of leggings.

Like I said, I just bought things that I needed, but I'm sure that when I get back after after term there will be a larger haul.

Have a beautiful night

Study Series #4

So I wasn't sure whether this would count as having anything to do with studying. But I thought that seeing as to study/go to school, you have to get up early, I would include it.
So here are my tips on.... How to survive early mornings
Enjoy.

First of all I suggest getting up at the same time every day that way your body can adjust to getting up early. By getting up at the same time every day you get used to it and you aren't as tired when you get up, although I know that sometimes you just can't wake up. Try getting up at this time 7 days a week, or if that is too daunting I suggest still setting an alarm for weekends so you are still getting up at a certain time. Your body will appreciate it.

Following on from time, I would also suggest going to bed at the same time every night as well, but I know that isn't always possible. I know that for me I go to bed at a different time every night, just depending on how much work I have to do that night, but I do try and stick to a rough time, say between 10 and 1 works for me, but it is entirely your choice the time you go to bed. Obviously I wouldn't stay up too late, because you do need to make sure you are getting enough sleep, because if you don't it is not only bad for your health, it is bad for your skin and can make you grumpy and no-body wants to speak to a grumpy person.

If you want to sleep that little bit longer I suggest doing these two things:

  1. Shower at night. If you are like me and take 20 minutes in the shower then another 20 minutes moisturising and getting dressed then showering at night will save you so much time in the morning. Even if you only take about 10 minutes to get showered and dressed, it is still that extra 10 minutes sleep which is always good, especially if you are staying up late doing essays for school.
  2. Get everything organised before going to bed. That means if you take your lunch to school, make it the night before. Choose your outfit and lay it out ready to put on when you get up. Make sure your bag is organised and has everything you need for the next day in it. If you change your make-up on a daily basis, decide before going to sleep.
That leads me onto my final point, keep make-up simple to save time putting it on in the morning. Save the extravagant make-up looks for when you have more time to get ready, i.e. weekends. This will, again, mean you can sleep that little bit longer. You don't even have to wear make-up to school, but I know it might seem like an unthinkable option to some of you, which is why I said simple make-up.

Over all I think the best way to survive early mornings is to do everything you can the night before. Honestly it saves so much time.
If you are a night owl, and you follow these tips you will soon become an early riser. As your body gets used to waking up early, you start to feel more alert first thing in the morning. And soon you won't have to rely on that morning coffee to give you a kick start because your body is already awake.

I hope that this post was helpful. Leave me your tips on how you survive early mornings in the comments below, I love getting new tips and improving everything I do.

Talk to you all soon!

Top Five Style Icons - Tag

Hey girlies.
So I thought that I would do my 'Top five style icons' tag. I hope you enjoy this post, and please leave me some feedback, and tell me your style icons.

  1. J.K. Rowling. Her style is so classic and beautiful. She is my all time icon, not just style, I adore her so much.

2. Blair Waldorf. Like Jo, her style is just classic and beautiful and I love it. You'll notice that most of my style icons are for the same reason.

3. Hermione Granger. Yes Hermione, not Emma. I love this style for school as it is so easy to pull off no matter how late you get up. Plus everyone can wear it.

4. Holly Willoughby. Again, her style is classic and absolutely gorgeous.

5. Elle Woods. Again a character, I know. Her style in the movie Legally Blonde, her style is girly, feminine, and slightly  over the top, which I love.

So there you go, my top 5 style icons. Sorry for the Elle Woods pictures, I couldn't find any good ones, but these kind of show her style. I'm not 100% sure I would actually wear Elle's style just because it is so over the top, but I  just had to add her, because I still love it.

So who are your style icons? Let me know in the comments below as I would love to know.

Talk to you all soon

Happy Rabbie (Robert) Burns Day!

Yay it is Robert Burns day! He is one of my favourite poets, although I actually haven't read any of his stuff since I was in primary school *sad face*
For those of you who don't know, Robert Burns is a Scottish poet and a lyricist.  He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and is celebrated worldwide. He is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots language, although much of his writing is also in English and a "light" Scots dialect, accessible to an audience beyond Scotland. He also wrote in standard English, and in these his political or civil commentary is often at its most blunt.*
Well today people in Scotland are celebrating his birth, and seeing as I no longer live there, but still want to celebrate I thought I would share with you one of his poems.

You know what the best thing about his works is? He is a Romantic writer, my favourite kind. Also the poems I am studying right now, but unfortunately not his works.

The poem is A Winter Night, and I hope you enjoy

When biting Boreas, fell and dour,
Sharp shivers thro' the leafless bow'r;
When Phoebus gies a short-liv'd glow'r,
Far south the lift,
Dim-dark'ning thro' the flaky show'r,
Or whirling drift:

Ae night the storm the steeples rocked,
Poor Labour sweet in sleep was locked,
While burns, wi' snawy wreaths up-choked,
Wild-eddying swirl;
Or, thro' the mining outlet bocked,
Down headlong hurl:

List'ning the doors an' winnocks rattle,
I thought me on the ourie cattle,
Or silly sheep, wha bide this brattle
O' winter war,
And thro' the drift, deep-lairing, sprattle
Beneath a scar.

Ilk happing bird,-wee, helpless thing!
That, in the merry months o' spring,
Delighted me to hear thee sing,
What comes o' thee?
Whare wilt thou cow'r thy chittering wing,
An' close thy e'e?

Ev'n you, on murdering errands toil'd,
Lone from your savage homes exil'd,
The blood-stain'd roost, and sheep-cote spoil'd
My heart forgets,
While pityless the tempest wild
Sore on you beats!

Now Phoebe in her midnight reign,
Dark-muff'd, view'd the dreary plain;
Still crowding thoughts, a pensive train,
Rose in my soul,
When on my ear this plantive strain,
Slow, solemn, stole:-

"Blow, blow, ye winds, with heavier gust!
And freeze, thou bitter-biting frost!
Descend, ye chilly, smothering snows!
Not all your rage, as now united, shows
More hard unkindness unrelenting,
Vengeful malice unrepenting.
Than heaven-illumin'd Man on brother Man bestows!

"See stern Oppression's iron grip,
Or mad Ambition's gory hand,
Sending, like blood-hounds from the slip,
Woe, Want, and Murder o'er a land!
Ev'n in the peaceful rural vale,
Truth, weeping, tells the mournful tale,
How pamper'd Luxury, Flatt'ry by her side,
The parasite empoisoning her ear,
With all the servile wretches in the rear,
Looks o'er proud Property, extended wide;
And eyes the simple, rustic hind,
Whose toil upholds the glitt'ring show-
A creature of another kind,
Some coarser substance, unrefin'd-
Plac'd for her lordly use thus far, thus vile, below!

"Where, where is Love's fond, tender throe,
With lordly Honour's lofty brow,
The pow'rs you proudly own?
Is there, beneath Love's noble name,
Can harbour, dark, the selfish aim,
To bless himself alone?
Mark maiden-innocence a prey
To love-pretending snares:
This boasted Honour turns away,
Shunning soft Pity's rising sway,
Regardless of the tears and unavailing pray'rs!
Perhaps this hour, in Misery's squalid nest,
She strains your infant to her joyless breast,
And with a mother's fears shrinks at the rocking blast!

"Oh ye! who, sunk in beds of down,
Feel not a want but what yourselves create,
Think, for a moment, on his wretched fate,
Whom friends and fortune quite disown!
Ill-satisfy'd keen nature's clamorous call,
Stretch'd on his straw, he lays himself to sleep;
While through the ragged roof and chinky wall,
Chill, o'er his slumbers, piles the drifty heap!
Think on the dungeon's grim confine,
Where Guilt and poor Misfortune pine!
Guilt, erring man, relenting view,
But shall thy legal rage pursue
The wretch, already crushed low
By cruel Fortune's undeserved blow?
Affliction's sons are brothers in distress;
A brother to relieve, how exquisite the bliss!"

I heard nae mair, for Chanticleer
Shook off the pouthery snaw,
And hail'd the morning with a cheer,
A cottage-rousing craw.
But deep this truth impress'd my mind-
Thro' all His works abroad,
The heart benevolent and kind
The most resembles God.

Dancing on ice *SPOILERS*

Hey girls, I'm doing this post early because I have an exam tomorrow and really want to get some good revision done.
So here is my thoughts on this weeks 'Dancing on ice'. I will do it in order of celebrity so here goes.

This week was movie week which gave me ideas on movies to watch for a goal of mine, which I'll go into detail about in another post.

I adore Chico. His performance was so so good. Not cheeky, which I love too, but serious and emotional. I loved his performance and think he is the dark horse of the competition.
Rosemary sucks! I'm sorry but her performance was poor and she is not improving. I feel like she isn't even taking the competition seriously and I want her to go.
How great was Sam? I was so glad he managed to do his back flip! He is such a great skater and you can tell he is improving and I think that he will go far.
I love Chemmy! Yes this week her performance wasn't as strong and she was unable to do the lift but I still think that she is great. I felt that Katarina's comments were a bit harsh, I mean you can't say that she can't do lifts because she is too big. Lets face it, if you want to do something, you can do. Chemmy, don't listen to that comment, we love you.
Corey annoys me so much, he reminds me of most of the guys in my sixth form, arrogant and obnoxious. I feel that he is trying to be like Michael Jackson, with his style and such and I didn't enjoy the Michael Jackson dancing with a slow song; it didn't fit. After the judges had made their comments he looked really angry. Obviously they weren't that great but seriously it's a competition and they were giving constructive criticism, take it and don't get angry.
I was proud of Jennifer skating even though she couldn't breathe. However I felt that she could've hid her pain better, I know that a lot of people, including the judges, said that it suited the song, but I felt that it should've been sad not 'I'm dying'
How cute is Mark? I can't believe he has left, it makes me sad, especially because of how I feel about other contestants. I love how Jane and Chris choreographed it to play to his strengths. He was improving and was the entertaining skater but now he is gone and I'm actually still upset about it.
Wow! Jorgie is amazing! The sit lift was beautiful and her moves were flawless. If I am being honest, I want her to win. Not only is she an amazing skater but she is gorgeous! She is my girl crush of the moment. How can you not love her? I mean look at her:
Matthew was great too, and I love how the two best skaters got the same score from the judges. I, personally, didn't think he was as good as Jorgie but there is no denying that he is a great skater. I am proud that he did the lift, even though he didn't feel strong enough. It must have been hard to do, especially after dropping your partner and hurting them, but he did it. Am I the only one who doesn't think he is that sexy? I don't see it, but what do you guys think?
Charlene skated in a long dress, and I have to admire her for that. How could I not? I admire professionals skating in a floor length dress, and she is so not a professional. Her skating isn't that great, and she is another contestant I want to leave.
I am so glad that they made Sebastian be a partner, but I didn't feel the partnership. Was it just me, or was he only doing what he was told, and not feeling it? He really needs to work on his team work skills. He also needs to stop adding in the free running, especially in random areas of the choreography and even more so during slow numbers, it doesn't help his partnership at all.
I really enjoyed Andy's performance, he really stayed in character and his skating didn't suffer either which is great. He is another contestant who is slowly improving and could definitely go far.
I felt that Heidi was good too, however I did not like her outfit, it was so unflattering, I mean look:
sorry that is the best picture I could find, but to me it is just disgusting. Anyway onto her skating, which has improved a lot. She is not as timid any more which is obviously a good thing, but she can definitely improve further.

In my notes I have "Lots of dirty jokes - Heidi, Louis, Robin" but I don't remember them ha-ha. Clearly they were unintentional but they were still funny.

I love Christopher Dean, he is brilliant and I want to marry him.

Did anyone notice the glitter tie that Robin was wearing? Wasn't it amazing? I want one!

Also Jane's dress was GORGEOUS! I can't find a picture to show you guys which I am upset about, but it was beautiful.

Well that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed. Leave me your thoughts on the show I would love to hear them.

Talk to you all tomorrow

Winter nail art

Hey girls, I was on WeHeartit.com looking at winter nail art and thought I would share with you my top 6.

I know some of them are a bit Christmassy but that's just because it is what people automatically associate with winter.
So what do you guys think? I personally love them and, if I had the patience and a steady hand, would love to try them, especially the hot chocolate one.

Do you want just one? Or for me to do them all, either alternating or all everyday? Let me know in the comments below.
I came up with this because I wanted to share with you my favourite bible verse of the moment then, you know me, an possibly great idea came into my head :)

Religion Vs Jesus

I don't know how many of you believe in God, but I do. I was on Youtube watching a video about nail art, and on of the recommended videos was the one below. So, naturally, I clicked it and watched it. All I can say is that he is right.
Different religions cause so many problems, and I can understand why people are against it. Some people believe that religion isn't necessary, that it shouldn't exist. But when they say that, they mean that people should stop believing; people should stop having faith. I disagree, everyone should have faith. To me, living without faith is unbearable, you have nothing to keep you going.
I only started to have faith in Jesus almost a year ago, but even before that I had faith in something. I don't understand why people are so closed minded that they can't believe in something that they can't see. A quote from my favourite Christmas movie fits perfectly here: "Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing" Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and yet that is a rather large reason why people do not know Jesus, because they have never actually seen him.
Anyway I hope you enjoy the video, and please leave me your thoughts in the comments below, I really do love reading them.

The Fault in Our Stars review

So I feel like a very bad blogger right now because I haven't been writing everyday like I said I would. You guys need to tell me when I miss a day. But to make up for it I am doing a review on John Green's new book, The Fault in Our Stars!
I'm going to try and not give away any spoilers but if I do it will be in the title.

Okay so first off, it is amazing and you should all read it! Just thought that I would get that out if the way first.

I adore the way that John writes, everything that I have read from him has been beautiful, insightful and endearing. They make you laugh, cry and fall in love; I have literally fallen in love with all of his main protagonists: Hazel Grace, Colin, Quentin, and Miles. You can't help but fall in love with them as he writes in such a way that you feel part of the story.

The Fault in Our Stars is no different, you fall in love with not only Hazel Grace but Augustus too. You follow both of their lives from when they first meet, and get to see their relationship grow. You see how both of their illnesses doesn't change their feelings for one another, even when they worsen.
I feel like you get an insight into what it must be like to live with cancer, to know that you might not live to be an adult, and it is heartbreaking. Reading it, I found, makes you think about what you take for granted, things like breathing, and you realize that your life could be worse.
What I found the most inspiring is how each character went on living as best as they could, not letting the cancer get to them. They couldn't live a completely normal life but they did their best, and I found that amazing. Yet it didn't make out that they were brave and heroic, it portrayed them as real, which I think is what I loved the most.

The novel was written in first person, from Hazel's perspective, and the fact that John could write so amazingly well, from a 16 year old girls perspective really shows just how great of a writer he is. I mean how many people can write from a perspective of the opposite sex? Never mind a teenager of the opposite sex!

I can't find any faults in this novel and I recommend it to everybody. Although I will warn you that you will cry, especially if you are emotional like me.

Have any of you got it yet? If you have and you have read it, let me know in the comments below what you thought of it. Sorry that this isn't the best review but I really didn't want to give any spoilers. If any of you have read it then we can discuss it in more detail.

Hopefully I will be back to my schedule of writting everyday tomorrow.
