Kim's book corner - Milly Johnson

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

Today I want to share with you all a book review. I know it's been a while since I last did a book corner post, but I've been reading really slowly lately. However I have a review on 3 books for you. These books were introduced to me by the lovely Em, when she did a review on the same three books. Go and check out her blog, she's lovely.

Another thing I want to add, is that these book corners are now going to be in video form, as I've been really enjoying making videos for my collab channel and wanted to film for my personal channel again.

Here are the links for the books mentioned in the video: Set of 3 books for only £4.99, and A winter flame.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments below what you thought. I will talk to you all on Wednesday.

Have a beautiful night

My week in Instagram

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

It's that time of the week again, where I show you all what I've been up to this week, via Instagram. This week I haven't taken many pictures, but I hope you like what I did take.

Relaxation night on Tuesday to try and make myself feel better. I've had the flu for a couple of weeks and definitely wanted to make myself feel better, and luckily it worked!

What I wore on Friday. Headband from Primark (2 years ago) Owl jumper from George Asda (birthday present last week) Jeans from Primark, Boots from Diechmann (This season)

I cut my finger tonight cooking and only had this huge plaster and no scissors, and now I can't bend my finger.

I know it's not much but I haven't done anything exciting this week, however I have a week off this week, so I might take more pictures.
What have you guys been up to this week? Let me know in the comments below.

That's all for today, I'm off to watch Surprise Surprise.

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

I just realised that I didn't post anything last night, so I'm doing it now.
This weeks theme was movie reviews, where we all gave a review on a different movie. It was fun and I enjoyed watching everyone's reviews. I hope you do too.

I hope you enjoyed this. I promise I will actually post tonight, so check back tonight.

Until then have a beautiful day.

Birthday haul

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that it was my birthday on Saturday, and I turned 20! I was ridiculously excited for my birthday this year, which was weird, because I haven't been excited for my birthday for about 5 years, so I was like a little kid again.

I had an awesome birthday, and was so spoilt. I am incredibly lucky.
I had a video chat with my dad, which was so nice, cause I don't get to see him very often, then my mum, brother and I went for a day of shopping in Liverpool, and my mum bought me a few more presents. That kinda sounds like Dudley Dursley, when he only got 36 presents when last year he got 37, so Tunie, bought him 2 more presents when they went out (sorry I just felt a Harry Potter reference was necessary) It wasn't like that though, my mum just refused to let me buy anything.
After we went shopping we went to the cinema to see Hotel Transylvania  which was hilarious, and I loved it all! It was a pretty awesome movie. Then went home, ordered a take-out and watched Take me out, which might sound boring to some people, but I'm not someone who enjoys going out at night, I'd rather stay in and watch a movie, or something on T.V.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you all what I got, because I love reading these post.

I got this face mask when I was in Superdrug, because I knew I needed a deep cleansing facial, but wasn't in the mood to make a mask, so I cheated. I used it last night, and I really like it

Some DVDs that I got, Bridget Jones from my mum, Lady and the Tramp from my dad, and Jack and Sarah from my brother :)

Yankee candles :) I got some tea lights, that smell kinda sweet and spicy at the same time, Vanilla cupcake from my brother, he actually got me this scent in a larger jar for my 18th so I love this one, even though I do prefer spicy scented candles :) and finally I think it's called Red Wreath, from their Christmas collection, which I also love :)

A cute teddy bear from my mum, and The Soul Survivor bible and Hogwarts bookmarks from my dad :)

For some strange reason, this picture keeps uploading upside down, and I can't change it :/ Anyway it is an owl jumper/sweater from my friends and socks from my mum :)

Like I said I am incredibly lucky, and I am so thankful to my family and friends for all my presents, and thankful to my family for giving me an amazing birthday.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Check back later for another exciting post I've been wanting to do for a while.

Until then, have a beautiful day

My shower routine

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

Today I want to share with you all something I've never seen done before. I've seen variations of this, like what's in my shower, but I wanted to make it a little bit different. I wanted to share my shower routine, because, as you all know, I am obsessed with routine.

This is my little corner in my shower

I first soak my hair, which I think I learnt from Blair Fowler a couple of years ago. Apparently she does it because shampoo dries out your hair, which makes sense. I then apply my shampoo just to the roots, because that is where the grease is. If I haven't washed my hair for more than 3 days I put wash all my hair, but to be honest, you don't need to do that because when you rinse it will clean all your hair.

When rinsing my shampoo out I squeeze out all the water at the same time, again I learnt this from Blair Fowler. I then apply my conditioner to the ends of my hair, starting from the nape of my neck (or from where I can lift my hair with ease) I also apply a tiny bit to my roots to give volume, and to get my layers and fringe/bangs. I then leave it whilst I do everything else I need to do.

I then use this to wash that area. This is good because that part of your body is really sensitive to scents so I really like this.

I then wash my body with my body wash, this one is the Radox moisture, which comes out really creamy and is actually really moisturising. I don't usually re-purchase body washes, I tend to just get whatever is cheapest, but I think I will re-purchase this one.
On a Monday, Wednesday and Friday I put my body wash on this to exfoliate my body. I think using one of this is nicer than using a body scrub and it works just as well.

Again I use this on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I feel like I give myself a good wash on those days because I only wash my hair then too. I don't know why but I think exfoliating makes me feel cleaner.

On every other night I wash my face with this. It's the Clearasil overnight wash. I'm almost out which is sad because no-where stocks it any more. However this is my first bottle and it has lasted for so long, so hopefully it will last me quite a while longer.

On the days when I'm not washing my hair, I shave, so that I don't spend too long in the shower. This is a bikini razor, which I feel is so much easier and safer to use than a regular razor, cause I don't know about you, but I'm always cutting myself, so I much prefer this.

I then shave my legs and underarms with a regular razor like this one.

Well that's my shower routine, I hope you enjoyed it. I'm genuinely interested if anyone else has a routine that they stick to in the shower? If you do, let me know in the comments below, I'm very interested to know if I'm the only one.

That's all for today, have a beautiful night

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

Life's little pleasures

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

Today I wanted to share with you all something I first found on elleandblair.com, and thought would be an interesting idea for my blog. It is (as you can tell from the title) is my take on life's little pleasures.

I will admit that I have many of the same 'pleasures' as Elle, however I did change a couple of them, and thought I would share it with you.

Here is the original post, and picture.

And now here's mine.

Whenever I am stressed out, I shut myself off from everyone and I find that doing at least one of these things makes me feel better.
I think a lot of people have a problem with stress because they don't give themselves time to relax, they are just always on the go and that makes life difficult. So just remember that you can take a break from your workload and have some time to yourself, no matter how much you have to do, even if it's only 15 minutes.

What do you guys do to de-stress/what do you enjoy most out of life? Let me know in the comments below.

Have a beautiful evening

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

P.S. I'm sorry, but here is another plug for my blog sale. I think the non-make-up products on there would make great Christmas presents for younger girls in your life.

British Rambles: Currently #2

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

I had no idea what to write today, so I am doing a currently post. I hope you enjoy.

  1. Listening to The Big Bang Theory. I keep becoming obsessed with T.V. shows, and this is my current one. I'm on season 3. I know I shouldn't get obsessed with something new, because I have just started studying again, but oh well haha
  2. Eating nothing right now, I stuffed my face this morning and sort of made myself feel sick, but my mum made some soup, which I love, and I really want some. Might just have to take some with me tomorrow.
  3. Drinking again nothing, but I am kinda thirsty, so once I'm done writing this, I'm gonna grab a glass of water. I love ending my day with a large glass of water and a green tea.
  4. Wearing my jammies, which have owls on. I love these, but they are slightly too big, I accidentally bought a size to big, but I don't mind.
  5. Feeling slightly sick, and slightly sleepy. I think I might grab an early night.
  6. Weather it's quite mild right now, not really cold, but not really warm. It does feel like autumn/fall.
  7. Wanting to buy stuff that I can't afford. I have a list of 'winter essentials' which I feel is becoming more and more essential. I really need a job.
  8. Needing a job, so I can buy all the stuff I can't afford
  9. Thinking how thirsty I am, and maybe I should brush my teeth and go to sleep
  10. Enjoying the flickering of my candle next to me.
I think I will leave it there for today. I hope you enjoyed this post, as I do enjoy writing these posts.

Have a beautiful night,

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

My week in Instagram

Hey girls, I hope you're all well.

Today I wanted to share with you all my 'exciting' week via Instagram.

He is so cute when he is sleeping (6 days ago)

Am I a student yet? Eating leftovers for breakfast cause I need to go shopping (4 days ago)

This wine is surprisingly good considering I don't like wine (4 days ago)

So apparently I can't do a sock bun (2 days ago)

Bet you just as I start making notes, my mum messages me telling me she's outside (2 days ago)

As you can see, I didn't take many pictures this week, as I'm just starting university, but maybe there will be more next week.
How has your week been? Did you do anything exciting?

Right I am off to watch more of The Big Bang Theory and maybe paint my nails.

Talk to you all tomorrow

Have a beautiful night

P.S. I'm sorry I keep doing this but there are still plenty of items on my blog sale, please check it out. I promise I'll stop doing this either when everything is sold or in December.

New Years Resolutions Update!

Hey girlies, I hope you're all well. I know that this was supposed to be posted on Wednesday, but I was kinda too busy, sorry.

Anyway, here is my New Years Resolutions update, and last month I seem to missed out a resolution, so I'm typing them up one by one for a change :-P

  1. Wash my face and brush my teeth every night
  2. Take my vitamins everyday
  3. Eat cleaner/healthier
  4. Exercise at least 3 times a week
  5. Work hard at school (now university)
  6. Read 6 books by the summer (changing to by Christmas)
  7. Appreciate all that I have more often
  8. Do something that scares me once a month

  1. I feel like I repeat myself with this one every month, I miss the odd night, but mostly I stick to it. I know that if I don't brush my teeth at night I feel disgusting the next morning, so that has definitely motivated me to stop being so lazy
  2. I actually sometimes forget to take my vitamins, which is crazy! I actually need to go and take them now. Naughty Kim.
  3. I was good for most of the month, with the odd treat here and there, which is acceptable. But then Fresher week happened, and instead of going out at night, because I'm not really a night life person, I stayed in watching movies with my mum eating junk food. Plus I just wasn't eating properly, like I skipped meals and snacked instead. I did that this week too, but I'm gonna try and get back into it next week.
  4. I have exercised pretty much every morning for the past month and a half, and I have been loving it. I used to have Sunday's off, but I found I felt sluggish if I didn't so I now do some light exercise on a Sunday. Again Freshers week kinda stopped me doing it every morning, and I haven't really done any this week, and I can definitely tell the difference, so I can't wait to start exercising again next week
  5. I have only really started university this week, so this one is kind of irrelevant.
  6. I am currently reading a book right now, and am planning on reading 1 a week this month, which I think will be do-able because I have long bus journeys, then slow down and concentrate on my university work next month
  7. I definitely feel like I am doing that. I've got an app on my phone called the key to happiness, and every morning it makes me write 3 things I am thankful for, which has helped a lot. I am definitely more appreciative now.
  8. Does starting university count? That definitely terrified me! This week has terrified me too, because I have started lectures/seminars, and I'm terrified of getting lost, but thankfully I didn't, and I'm actually really happy about that :-D
How are you all doing with your resolutions? I'm actually starting to think of next year resolutions, anyone else?

I've had an idea of having set posts for Saturday and Sunday, so I'll have a collection of this weeks videos from my collab channel on a Saturday, and my week in Instagram on a Sunday, with unexpected posts on a Monday and Wednesday. Do you guys like that idea? Or would you rather I kept each post unexpected? Let me know.

Have a beautiful evening girls.

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives.

P.S. Please check out my blog sale, there is still plenty of fun stuff to purchase :-)

September Ins and Outs

Hey girls, I hope you are all well.

I am finally onto today's planned post, and that is my Ins and Outs for September. This month has gone by so fast! I can't believe that I start my lectures tomorrow! It's kinda scary to be honest, but exciting at the same time.
Oh and I actually did what I planned to do, to keep track of my Ins and Outs this month! I'm proud of myself haha

In:

  1. Elle Fowler's videos (again) - I finished watching them all at the beginning of the month, and I was kind of sad about it. I'm also sad I didn't win the Louis Vutton bag, I entered a ridiculous amount of times on the first video
  2. Once Upon a time - I watched the entire season within 3 days at the beginning of the month. I loved it so much, and I kinda want a new series. Desperately
  3. Church - I hadn't really gone during the summer for various reasons, but I've started going again and I am so excited for all of the groups to be on
  4. Disney videos - And by videos I mean VHS. I was helping my brother pack, and he had a bunch of them that he said I could have and I kinda love them.
  5. Pintrest - I am literally obsessed with Pintrest now. I almost didn't want to like it, because I like WeHeartIt so much, but I've downloaded the app now, that's how obsessed I am. I'm constantly pinning things
  6. Reading - At the beginning of the month, I could not get into the mind set to read, but then all of a sudden I really got into it. I read an entire book and am currently reading 2 others.
Out:
  1. My summer holidays - I've been excited to start university for a while, but I'm a little bit upset that my holiday's are over. It's going to be hard to get back into a routine, but I'm sure I'll work it out.
Ok so my Out's aren't very exciting, probably because it's harder to keep track of those. I'll work on that this month.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and as always let me know what your Ins and Outs of the last month were in the comments below.

Talk to you all soon

Have a beautiful night

Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

P.S. Please check out my blog sale, I promise everything is good for something

My guide to the perfect at home facial

Hey girls, as I promised a while a go, here is my guide to the perfect at home facial. I hope you enjoy.

First you want to apply a thin layer of a cream cleanser onto a slightly damp face

This is the one I use, it's the Clearasil Ultra All in 1 wash and mask.
After about 3 minutes take a cotton pad and wipe it off. By leaving the cream cleanser on it absorbs all of the dirt, grime and old make-up.

Before I do any of that I tend to switch my facial sauna on. However if you do not have one, all you have to do is fill a bowl with boiling water
Place a towel over your head and the bowl and let the steam open up all your pores. I normally sit there for about 5-10 minutes, or until I can feel my face sweating. However you can sit there for as long as it feels comfortable, but I recommend not any longer than 20 minutes.

Once I have left my face mask on for 20-25 minutes, I rinse it off using warm water. I tend to cover my face with the damp face cloth, letting the mask soften, then wipe in gentle circular motions. Afterwards I just splash my face with cold water to close my pores again.

Then simply pat dry with a clean towel and apply your favourite moisturiser.

And after all that, you are left with healthy, glowing skin :-)

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you have any tips and tricks on the perfect at home facial, please feel free to leave them in the comments below. I always love hearing what other people do and trying them out. If you do this, please let me know how it worked for you.

That's all for now, check back later for my final post of the day, and until then....

Have a beautiful evening.
Dream beautiful dreams; live beautiful lives

xx

P.S. I'm just plugging my blog sale again. As I've said before, all the money I make from this will be spent on things I need for exciting posts I have planned, but I can't do them unless people buy things. Feel free to tell your friends too.

My month in Instagram (well over a month :/)

Hey girls, apparently it's been a while since I last updated this, and, again, I have no idea why. I was supposed to write something on Saturday, Sunday and today, so I am making sure all of those posts are done today, starting with yesterdays.

Throughout, at least, the month of October I will be posting on the following days: Monday's, Wednesday's, Saturday's and Sunday's, as these are the days I am not in University.
